Spleen, Hesitation, Creation

Sometimes we may feel a strange sensation, as if a part of ourselves was trying to make us doubt about our choices.

This feeling can manifest itself in different ways: fear, intimidation, apprehension, fear of being unable to succeed, and even through a desire to give up.

The role of an artist is to transform these fears into Strength.

Using this feeling of uneasiness, this melancholy, as the key ingredient in a poem that would express this exact emotion.

When an artist confronts his fears, his doubts, he manages to see them no longer as an obstacle but as a springboard to go further.

Used as a Force, our fears become much less frightening and this gives us the courage to move forward, again and again, to reach our dreams.

So, let's not be afraid to use all these moments of doubt, or hesitation, even in the smallest of our creations…

Spleen

What a strange word?

But what does it mean, exactly?

Certainly not the meaning you must be thinking about,

Right now…

Spleen is certainly not an organ found in virtually all vertebrates.

Spleen is about Melancholy.

An Anglicism often used by the French poet

Charles Baudelaire.

Spleen refers to the boredom of all things.

A Deep Melancholy.

Van Gogh's painting

Is coloured with his mental pain.

What stranger couple than creation and pain.

But, when it comes to creation,

Hesitation appears.

And, between doubts and fears,

Sometimes Depression appears…

What stranger life than the life of an artist

Married with both creativity and melancholy.

A Life of Hesitation,

But a Life of Inspiration…
